Internet Explorer 9 – Toronto
For the Canadian launch of Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 9 browser, X-Agora took browser-based gaming to a whole new level, transforming “Battle for Beauty”, originally developed by 4 cent 4, into an extraordinary interactive experience in the heart of Toronto. Nearly 2,000 people gathered in front of a giant canvas-backed 40 x 12 foot screen to play this live game, throwing balls at an interactive screen, trying to eliminate characters controlled by online players at home. A camera captured the action and streamed it to home players to enhance the sense of simultaneity. As well as being used for the development of “Battle for Beauty’s” interactive elements, X-Agora was also used to create and control stage and lighting designs for this extraordinary urban experience.
